SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Sophomore Stephen Youngblood won in No. 1 singles and doubles, but it wasn't enough as the Swarthmore men's tennis team (2-6, 1-0) dropped a 7-2 decision to No.22 Washington & Lee on Sunday morning from the Faulkner Courts at the College.
Youngblood defeated the Generals No.1 Hayden White - the No. 5 singles player in Division III - 6-4, 6-2 in singles play, while starting the day by teaming up with sophomore Zak Kelm for a 8-2 No. 1 doubles win over the W&L combo of Alex Brooke and Jonathan Gaffney. Read the rest of this entry »

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Swarthmore College baseball team (11-7, 3-1) saw its eight-game winning streak come to end on Sunday afternoon, as Muhlenberg scored six runs in the sixth inning and eight runs in the eighth inning en route to a 17-3 victory over the Garnet from historic Limeport Stadium.
The loss is the Garnet's first in Centennial Conference play for the 2010 season.

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Swarthmore College men's tennis team (2-5, 1-0) opened up its second season of Centennial Conference play with a 9-0 sweep of McDaniel on Saturday afternoon.

RESULTS
WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team remained unbeaten in Centennial Conference play, as the Garnet earned a convincing 9-0 victory at McDaniel on Saturday afternoon.
The Garnet (5-2, 3-0) had little trouble with the Green Terror, dropping just two games in singles play en route to the dominating victory.
Freshman Emily Rosenblum picked up win in No. 1 singles and doubles, trouncing McDaniel No. 1 Jamie Lantham 6-0, 6-0 in singles play while pairing up with junior Luann Cignavitch to defeat the McDaniel pair of Starlings/Stavirov 8-2. Rosenblum is now 2-0 on the season at No. 1 singles.
Freshman Kelsey Johnson (6-1, 6-0), junior Alexis Hickman (6-0, 6-1), Cignavitch (6-0, 6-1) and freshman Tayler Tucker (6-0, 6-0) all picked up singles wins to lead the Garnet cause.
Swarthmore returns to action Thursday at Muhlenberg (4:00 p.m.).

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Senior Tyler Bradshaw, sophomore Max Hubbard, and sophomore Zach Belden each scored a pair of goals to lead the Swarthmore College men’s lacrosse team (1-6, 0-4), but a Muhlenberg goal with three seconds left in the third period proved to be the difference as the Mules (4-3, 3-1) defeated Swarthmore 9-8 on Saturday evening from Scotty Wood Stadium.
Senior Kevin Friedenberg finished the game with 13 saves for the Garnet who battled back from an early 3-0 deficit to tie the game at five before Brent Siebold scored his sixth goal of the season for the Mules at the end of the third quarter. Read the rest of this entry »
