Seniors Shine as Garnet Women Defeat F&M 4-0; Peterson Sets Assist Mark

LANCASTER, Pa. – Led by two goals from freshman midfielder Megan Brock and a recording-setting assist from senior Kirsten Peterson, the Swarthmore Garnet women’s soccer team (8-7-2, 6-4) closed out the 2010 regular season with a resounding 4-0 victory over the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats (7-8-1, 3-7) on Saturday evening at F&M’s Tylus Field.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore women’s soccer team (7-7-2, 5-4 CC) played gutsy soccer from start to finish but a first half goal by the Haverford Fords (11-5, 6-3 CC) would be enough to edge the Garnet in the heated rivalry game Tuesday night on Clothier Field.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women’s soccer team (7-6-2, 5-3) rallied from two-goals down with under 25 minutes to play in the second half, but could not push the game-winner across in two overtime periods as it fell, 3-2, to the Gettysburg Bullets (11-5, 6-2) on Saturday evening at Clothier Field in front of a huge crowd in attendance for Swarthmore’s Garnet Homecoming and Senior Day.

Garnet Women Ranked No. 6 in First NCAA Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – With only three games remaining in the regular season, the Swarthmore College women’s soccer team finds itself ranked sixth in the all-important Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings, the NCAA announced on Tuesday.

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Despite placing 14 shots on goal and controlling the play for much of the game, the Swarthmore College women’s soccer team (7-5-2, 5-2) found itself on the wrong end of the scoreboard, as a goal from Ursinus’ Monica Oliveto in the 42nd minute on a long free kick proved to be the difference as the Garnet was defeated by the Bears 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

The loss snaps the Garnet’s season-high five-game winning streak.
