Pollen Captures National Championship at 2010 U.S. Paralympics Spring Swimming Nationals

SAN ANTONIO - Sophomore Travis Pollen captured a national championship in the S9 classification  50 meter freestyle while taking second place in the 100 meter freestyle to highlight his outstanding  performance at the 2010 U.S. Paralympics Spring Swimming Nationals, held at the Palo Alto College Natatorium over the weekend.

Pollen captured a national championship in the S9 classification 50 freestyle.

Pollen's  time in the 50 free  (28.47) ranks second in the United States for his classification and 24th in the world, while his time in the  100 free (1:01.42)  ranks fourth in the U.S. and 21st in the world for the S9 classification.

Along with his first-place finish in  the 50 freestyle, Pollen earned lifetime best times in the 50 back, 100 back (1:13.77)  and 200 IM (2:44.02)  and is now just .5 seconds off the qualifying time for the world championships.

Pollen also captured third place  in the 200IM and fourth in the 100 back to cap his magnificent performance from Texas.
