Garnet Tennis Kicks Mules, 7-2

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore Stephen Youngblood picked up a No. 1 singles win for the third consecutive match while sophomore Max Bressman and freshmen Malik Mubeen and Seth Udelson each picked up singles and doubles victories as the Garnet (3-6, 2-0) defeated Muhlenberg 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Garnet Soccer Teams Host Haiti Earthquake Relief Clinic

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men’s and women’s soccer programs collaborated to host the Haiti Earthquake Relief Clinic on Saturday, March 20th at the College’s Clothier Field Stadium. The idea for the clinic, conceived by the two teams in order to benefit the victims of the January 12th Haiti Earthquake, was inspired in part by junior Philippe Celestin, a Swarthmore soccer player of Haitian descent. The clinic was a student-athlete-organized venture, with over 30 men’s and women’s players contributing to its organization and execution.

Garnet Lax Home Game with U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Postponed

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Tonight’s scheduled men’s lacrosse game between Swarthmore and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy has been postponed due to the death of a U.S.M.M.A student-athlete on Tuesday. A make-up date has yet to be determined.

Swat Baseball Postponed; Softball Rescheduled for Thursday

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The latest victim of the heavy rains to hit the Mid-Atlantic region is the Swarthmore baseball team, as today’s scheduled Centennial Conference game at Washington College has been postponed until Thursday at 3:30.

Meanwhile, the Swarthmore softball team’s doubleheader with Ursinus – originally scheduled for Tuesday afternoon – will now be played on Thursday at 3:30 from Clothier Field.

Rain Washes Out Garnet Lacrosse

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Due an attack of Spring showers the Swarthmore women’s lacrosse game against Widener University scheduled for today has been postponed until Thursday April 8 at 4 PM. Please check back for further information.

Softball Doubleheader with Ursinus Postponed

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Today’s scheduled Centennial Conference softball doubleheader between the Swarthmore College softball team and Ursinus has been postponed due to rain. The make-up date has yet to be determined.

Rain Cancels Swat Home Golf Match Again

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Rain has forced the cancellation of today’s Swarthmore College home golf match featuring Ursinus, Neumann, Cabrini, and Rutgers-Camden. The weather cancellation is the Garnet’s third of the 2010 season. Swarthmore hopes to return to the links next Monday with a home match featuring Philadelphia University and Hartford Community College.

Weston Captures Second Place at the McDaniel Spring Golf Invitational

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore Paul Weston finished strong on the final day of the McDaniel Spring Golf Invitational shooting a 76, holding onto second place in the field of 78 golfers. Weston shot six over par in the tournament leading the Garnet on Sunday afternoon at the Bridges Golf Club.

No. 22 Washington & Lee Downs Swarthmore Tennis 7-2

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Sophomore Stephen Youngblood won in No. 1 singles and doubles, but it wasn’t enough as the Swarthmore men’s tennis team (2-6, 1-0) dropped a 7-2 decision to No.22 Washington & Lee on Sunday morning from the Faulkner Courts at the College.

Youngblood defeated the Generals No.1 Hayden White 6-4, 6-2 in singles play, while starting the day by teaming up with sophomore Zak Kelm for a 8-2 No. 1 doubles win over the W&L combo of Alex Brooke and Jonathan Gaffney.

Winning Streak Ends as Mules Defeat Garnet Baseball 17-3

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Swarthmore College baseball team (11-7, 3-1) saw its eight-game winning streak come to end on Sunday afternoon, as Muhlenberg scored six runs in the sixth inning and eight runs in the eighth inning en route to a 17-3 victory over the Garnet from historic Limeport Stadium.
