Swarthmore Wins Wild One Over Franklin and Marshall, 88-83 (2 OT)

LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore Genny Pezzola lit up the court on Saturday night draining eight 3-pointers for a career high 24 points to lead the Garnet (9-10, 6-8 CC) past Franklin & Marshall (8-11, 4-10 CC) in a wild 88-83 double-overtime victory. Pezzola sealed the deal in dramatic fashion with a three in the final two minutes of the second overtime. Senior Pam Costello tacked on four 3-pointers of her own for a season high 18 points.

Givans Leads Garnet at McElligot Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Sophomore Kenyetta Givans had another outstanding finish in the 55 m hurdles, taking third place with a time of 8.66, to lead the Swarthmore women’s indoor track team at Haverford College in the Seamus McElligot Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

HAVERFORD, Pa. – After a two-week layoff, the Swarthmore College men’s indoor track team got back to action with a short trip to Haverford College to compete in the Seamus McElligot Invitational on Saturday afternoon from Haverford’s Alumni Field House.

No. 17 Franklin & Marshall Too Much for Garnet, 77-47

LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 17 Franklin & Marshall saw four different players reach double-figures and its defense stymie Swarthmore’s (5-14, 4-8) offense all game long, as the Diplomats (16-3, 10-2) dominated the Garnet 77-47 on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.

Freshman Will Gates scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down seven rebounds while freshman Sean Conroe scored a career-high seven points for the Garnet, who saw their two-game winning streak snapped by the Diplomats.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College swim teams earned a split on Senior Day from Ware Pool, as the men’s swim team (4-3, 3-1 CC) won a hard-fought battle over Conference rival Gettysburg (4-3, 3-1 CC) 117-88, but the Garnet women (4-4, 2-3 CC) fell to the Bullets (7-1, 5-0 CC) 111-94 on Saturday afternoon.

Both the Swarthmore College men’s and women’s basketball teams will look to improve their playoff prospects when they travel to Lancaster to take on Franklin & Marshall. Defense, Balanced Scoring Leads Garnet Past McDaniel 60-48

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Don’t look now, but the Swarthmore College men’s basketball team (5-13, 4-7) is proving itself to be one of the toughest opponents in the Centennial Conference this season.

Freshman Will Gates scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for his second-consecutive double-double, senior captain Matt Allen scored a season-high 14 points and added five assists and freshman Eugene Prymak scored 10 points – including eight crucial points in the second half – as the Garnet defeated McDaniel 60-48 on Wednesday evening from Tarble Pavilion.

Swarthmore Defeats Bryn Mawr 86-47

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Junior Kathryn Stockbower recorded her 58th double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, sophomore Genny Pezzola (17 points) and freshman Madeline Ross (16 points) each recorded career-highs to lead the Garnet (8-10, 5-8 CC) to an 86-47 victory against Bryn Mawr (2-15, 0-13 CC) at Gooding Arena on Wednesday evening.
