McMinn, Phillips Pace Garnet Men to Fourth-Place Finish at Centennials

ELKRIDGE, Md. – Sophomores John McMinn and Jacob Phillips crossed the finish line in 21st and 22nd place respectively (25;57.80 and 25.58.30), leading the Swarthmore College men’s cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday afternoon.

King Paces Garnet Cross Country at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Sophomore Bill King earned a Top 10 finish with a time of 27:19.57to lead the Swarthmore College men’s cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the DeSales Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

As a team, the Garnet finished fifth among Division III competition with 159 points in the squads final prep race before the Centennial Conference Championships (Oct. 31 from Johns Hopkins).

Garnet Men Run Strong to Earn Second Place in White 8K at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore Aidan DuMont-McCaffrey (26:33) finished in seventh place while first-year Robert Fain (26:48) was right on his heels to earn 12th, helping the Swarthmore College men’s cross country team earn a second-place finish in the men’s white 8K at the Paul Short Run from Lehigh University on Friday afternoon.

The Garnet took second with a team total of 101 points, just two points shy of first-place Rowan (99).

DuMont-McCaffrey Leads Garnet Men to Third-Place Finish in Main Line Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Sophomore Aidan DuMont-McCaffrey clocked in at 21:09.30 to lead the Garnet to a third place finish in the Main Line Invitational on Thursday afternoon. DuMont-McCaffrey’s time earned him 28th place in a field that included Division I Villanova runners.

Garnet Men Take 10th at Dickinson Long/Short Race

CARLISLE, Pa. – In his first collegiate race, freshman Robert Fain was the top finisher for the Swarthmore College men’s cross country team in the long race, while sophomore Aidan DuMont-McCaffrey led the Garnet in the short race as Swat combined to earn a 10th place overall team finish at the Dickinson Long/Short on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomores Lead The Way To Victory at the 2010 Swarthmore Alumni Race

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – For the second year in a row, the Swarthmore men’s cross country team triumphed over the alumni – by a score of 15 to 48 – at the annual Swarthmore Alumni Race, now in its 36th year. Sophomores John McMinn, Jacob Phillips, Aidan DuMont-McCaffrey, and Bill King all finished within seven seconds to each other to lay waste to the field at Saturday’s race, held on the College campus.

Gershenson Leads Garnet at Haverford Duals to Open the Cross Country Season

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men’s cross country team opened it’s 2010 campaign this weekend at the Haverford Duals. Leading the charge for the Garnet was junior Zach Gershenson who finished the race in a swift 17:35.

Swarthmore Athletes Named to the All-Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team

LANCASTER, Pa. – Six Swarthmore student-athletes were named to the fall All-Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team today. The Centennial’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee created the team to emphasize sportsmanship within the Conference. All institutions elected one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-Centennial team.

Frick Earns All-Region Honors, Freshmen Pace Garnet Men at NCAA Cross Country Mideast Regional Meet

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Freshmen John McMinn, Jacob Phillips and Brian King led the pace for the Swarthmore men’s cross country team in the NCAA Mideast Regional meet; all finishing in under 27 minutes. Sophomore Melissa Frick made an impressive return to competition for the Garnet women, pacing Swarthmore with a 23:09 run good enough for 35th place. The Garnet men finished 14th of 53 teams and the women finished 9th.
