SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore women’s soccer team (7-7-2, 5-4 CC) played gutsy soccer from start to finish but a first half goal by the Haverford Fords (11-5, 6-3 CC) would be enough to edge the Garnet in the heated rivalry game Tuesday night on Clothier Field.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Despite a tenacious attack and gritty goalkeeping from senior Katie Ashmore, the Swarthmore College field hockey team’s playoff hopes took hit on Saturday afternoon, as it was defeated by Gettysburg 2-1 from Clothier Field Stadium on Saturday afternoon in front of a huge crowd on hand for Garnet Homecoming Weekend and Senior Day.

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Freshman Emma Saarel finished in third place with a time of 18:51 while junior Hannah Rose earned 10th place with a time of 19:14, as the Swarthmore College women’s cross country team finished in third place at the 29th Annual Seven Sisters Race under blustery conditions from Vassar College on Saturday morning.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior captain Micah Rose’s fifth goal of the season in the 17th minute of the goal gave the No. 2 Swarthmore College men’s soccer team (10-0-1, 4-0-1 CC) an early lead over Ursinus (1-9, 0-5 CC) but two goals late in the second half solidified the dominant 3-0 Swat victory on Saturday night on Clothier Field.

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Sophomore Bill King earned a Top 10 finish with a time of 27:19.57to lead the Swarthmore College men’s cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the DeSales Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
As a team, the Garnet finished fifth among Division III competition with 159 points in the squads final prep race before the Centennial Conference Championships (Oct. 31 from Johns Hopkins).

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Sophomore Sophia Agathis smashed the game-winning goal from the top of the circle in the 56th minute, while sophomore Catie Meador and freshman Nia Jones added first-half goals as the Swarthmore College field hockey team (4-6, 1-2) held off Arcadia for the 3-2 victory on Wednesday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – All 11 Garnet players picked up at least two digs in Saturday’s “Dig for a Cure” game where Swarthmore (12-4, 2-1 CC) would take down the visiting McDaniel Green Terror (1-13, 1-2 CC) in straight sets 25-8, 25-11, 25-22.
Swat’s digs totaled 54 while the Green Terror would record 47.

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior Megan Colombo scored in the 14th minute off an assist from senior Kirsten Peterson while freshman Aly Passanante sealed with a goal in the 82nd minute as the Swarthmore College women’s soccer team blanked homestanding Washington College 2-0 on Wednesday.
With her assist, Peterson is now tied with EB Fortier ’02 for the most career assists in program history (14). Also closing in on a program record thanks to their performance against the Shorewomen is Colombo, whose first-half goal gives her 24 for her career, just two away from the all-time program lead held by Madeline Fraser ’94.

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Freshman Jeff Wall and junior co-captain Paul Weston fired 77s to claim first place and lead the Swarthmore College golf team to a first-place finish at the Philadelphia University Tri-Match at the ACE Club in Lafayette Hill on Saturday afternoon.

BALTIMORE – Senior goalkeeper Katie Ashmore would stop 13 shots in goal for the Swarthmore field hockey team (3-5, 1-1 CC) but the host Blue Jays (3-4, 1-1 CC) would still manage to put five in the back of the net to top the Garnet on Saturday afternoon at Homewood Field.
