Saarel Leads Garnet Women to Fourth-Place Finish at Centennials

Elkridge, Md. – Freshman Emma Saarel finished in 13th place with a time of 22:39, good enough to earn second-team all-conference honors, leading the Swarthmore College women’s cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the Centennial Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning from Elkridge, Maryland.

Saarel, Garnet Cross Country Finish Third at Seven Sisters

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Freshman Emma Saarel finished in third place with a time of 18:51 while junior Hannah Rose earned 10th place with a time of 19:14, as the Swarthmore College women’s cross country team finished in third place at the 29th Annual Seven Sisters Race under blustery conditions from Vassar College on Saturday morning.

Garnet Women Win White 6K at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Led by a top ten performance from freshman Emma Saarel (22:55) and top 20 finishes from junior Hannah Rose (23:19) and senior Rebecca Woo (23:25), the Swarthmore College women’s cross country team captured first place in the White 6k race at the Paul Short Run from Lehigh University on Friday afternoon.

As a team, the Garnet amassed 92 points, placing six runners in the top 30 to edge Trinity College (201) and Seton Hill (203).

Cross Country Women Ranked No. 8 in Mideast Region

NEW ORLEANS – After the first two competitions of the 2010 season, the Swarthmore College women’s cross country team find itself with an early-season regional ranking , as the team is ranked No. 8 in the Mideast Region according to the the Division III USTFCCA rankings, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Saarel Leads Swarthmore Women to Second Place Finish in Main Line Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Freshman Emma Saarel crossed the finish for a 10th place finish with a time of 18:43.35 in the three-mile course at the Main Line Invitational to lead the Garnet to a second place finish on Thursday night.

Swarthmore finished only behind reigning Division I national champions, Villanova.

Garnet Women Finish Sixth at Dickinson Long/Short Race

CARLISLE, Pa. – Junior Hannah Rose finished 16th in the long race with a time of 24:13 while sophomore Rebecca Hammond was the Garnet’s top finisher in the short race, as the Swarthmore College women’s cross country team opened the season with a sixth place finish in at the Dickinson Long/Short Race on Saturday afternoon.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore women’s cross country team cruised to victory with a flawless 15 points at the 2010 Swarthmore Alumni Race, held Saturday at the College. Freshman Emma Saarel and senior Rebecca Woo led the women, finishing in 20 minutes, 17 seconds, and 20:22, respectively.
