No. 22 Washington & Lee Downs Swarthmore Tennis 7-2

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Sophomore Stephen Youngblood won in No. 1 singles and doubles, but it wasn't enough as the Swarthmore men's tennis team (2-6, 1-0) dropped a 7-2 decision to No.22 Washington & Lee on Sunday morning from the Faulkner Courts at the College.

Youngblood defeated the Generals No.1 Hayden White - the No. 5 singles player in Division III - 6-4, 6-2 in singles play, while starting the day by teaming up with sophomore Zak Kelm for a 8-2 No. 1 doubles win over the W&L combo of Alex Brooke and Jonathan Gaffney.

But those points were the only ones that Swat could muster against nationally-ranked Washington & Lee, as the Generals swept the five remaining singles matches and two doubles matches.

Both junior Mark Wee (No.3 singles)and sophomore Max Bressman both lost their singles matches in third set tiebreakers.

Swarthmore returns to Centennial Conference play this Wednesday with a trip to Muhlenberg (3:30).
