SWARTHMORE, Pa. — Sophomore Neil Mejia struck out six hitters in six innings and freshman Mike Waterhouse went 3-for-4 with two runs as Swarthmore won its season opener for the first time in nine years, defeating Vassar 6-4 in the first game of a non-conference baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Clothier Fields.

ST. DAVID’S, Pa. — Garnet senior captain Stelios Wilson tallied a career-high five goals and junior goalie Kevin Friedenberg posted 12 saves in his first collegiate start as the Swarthmore men’s lacrosse season opened the 2009 season with an 11-8 win at Eastern Saturday afternoon.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Swarthmore senior Doug Gilchrist-Scott broke five school records and a Centennial Conference record on the way to winning seven medals at the Centennial Conference Swimming Championships held at the Kunkel Aquatic Center on the campus of Franklin & Marshall College February 20-22.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Swarthmore sophomore Kathryn Stockbower was named Centennial Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year and senior Melissa Grigsby was selected honorable mention as announced by the Conference office Tuesday afternoon following a vote by the Centennial head coaches.
