MINNEAPOLIS - Swarthmore College senior women's swimmer Anne Miller finished in 14th place in the 100 yard butterfly at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday evening, touching the wall in a Swarthmore College record-breaking time of 56.66, earning All-America honors for the sixth time in her illustrious career.
With her sixth career All-American honor, Miller is now tied with Skye Fulkerson ’96 for the most All-American swimming honors in College history. Read the rest of this entry »

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - It was a tough day on the diamond for the Swarthmore College softball team, as the Garnet dropped a pair of games to homestanding Elizabethtown, 5-4 and 9-1 on Thursday afternoon. In the first game, Swat (4-8) saw a 3-1 sixth inning lead slip away thanks to four runs from Blue Jays (7-2-1) in the bottom of the frame, while in the second game, Blue Jays' starting pitcher Emily Vogel limited the Garnet to just one hit innings over five innings.
Junior first baseman Krista Scheirer paced the offense, finishing 4-of-6 for the day including a double - the Garnet's only extra base hit for the day. Freshmen Danielle Seltzer and Angelica Sanchez each finished with three hits in the first game. Read the rest of this entry »

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Sophomore midfielder Max Hubbard netted a career-high four goals on just five shots, but an overtime goal from Ursinus's Eric Farris, who scored three goals of his own, was the difference as the Bears rallied to defeat the Garnet 8-7 (OT) from Eleanor Frost Snell Field at Ursinus College.

D3HOOPS FULL TEAM

STERLING, Va. - Junior Kathryn Stockbower of the Swarthmore College women's basketball team has been named to the D3Hoops.com Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, as well as the ECAC South Region Second Team, the organizations announced today.
The honors are just latest in a string of accolades for Stockbower (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin, Pa.), who in the past month has been named a finalist for the NCAA Division III State Farm® Coaches’ All-America Team while earning First-Team All-Centennial Conference honors for the third consecutive season. SWARTHMORE, Pa. - A return to the friendly confines of Clothier Field was just what the Swarthmore College softball needed following a six-game Spring Break road trip, as the Garnet dispatched visiting Penn-State Abington 9-0 and 16-3 to sweep the doubleheader on a gorgeous Tuesday afternoon from the College.
Freshman Kate Smayda had all-around outstanding performance for the Garnet, combining for three hits and four RBI at the plate while winning Game 2 on the mound for her first collegiate victory (1-0). Sophomore Liz Cushing and fellow freshman Danielle Seltzer both combined for three hits and three RBI over the two games, including two doubles for each in the first game.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College Department of Athletics and the Garnet Sports Network has released the live video and audio schedule for the 2010 spring sports season. The network will provide free live video from Clothier Field and free audio from the Clothier baseball and softball fields, totaling over 40 Swarthmore athletic events during the spring season.
During the 2009-10 fall and winter sports seasons, the Garnet Sports Network attracted over 8,500 viewers from all 50 states and 16 countries around the globe. Read the rest of this entry »
