Swat Golf Finishes Fifth in Wilmington University Spring Invitational
WILMINGTON, Del. - The Swarthmore College golf team earned a fifth place finish with a score of 307 in the Wilmington University Spring Golf Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The impressive season-opening score of 308 is just three strokes off of the all-time program low of 305.
Senior Jeff Lazarus had a great round to lead the Garnet with a team low 76 to start out his final season at Swarthmore. Sophomores Alex Nichamin and Paul Weston were hot on the heals of Lazarus finishing only one stroke back with 77s. Freshmen rounded out the pack with Kyle Krainock entering the clubhouse with a 78 and Jake Carter with an 80.
The tournament was cut to an 18-hole event after rain spoiled Saturday's play.
The Garnet will return to the course on Monday March 22 when they host the University of Sciences (Philadelphia), Widener, and Immaculata at Rolling Green Golf Club. Tee-off is scheduled for 1 PM.
