Stockbower Named D3Hoops First-Team All-Region, Second-Team ECAC All-Region

STERLING, Va. - Junior Kathryn Stockbower of the Swarthmore College women's basketball team has been named to the D3Hoops.com Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, as well as the ECAC South Region Second Team,  the organizations announced today.

The honors are just latest in a string of accolades for Stockbower (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin, Pa.), who in the past month has been named a finalist for the NCAA Division III State Farm® Coaches’ All-America Team while earning First-Team All-Centennial Conference honors for the third consecutive season.

Stockbower makes the D3Hoops.com All-Region team for the first time.

Stockbower is joined on the D3Hoops.com first team by fellow Centennial Conference student-athletes Kelly Mckeon (Muhlenberg) and Caitlin Moser (Gettysburg), as well as Megan Kopecki (Scranton) and Andrea Hoover (Lebanon Valley). McKeon also took home Regional Player of the Year honors.

Stockbower - a preseason All-American selection by D3hoops - is coming off a tremendous 2009-10 campaign that saw her lead the Centennial Conference in rebounding (13.5 rpg), finish second in scoring (17.7 ppg), third in shooting percentage (51.2) while finishing seventh in the nation in rebounding average . For the 2009-10 season, Stockbower finished with a Centennial Conference-leading 22 double-doubles while scoring in double-figures in all 25 of the Garnet's games. For her career, Stockbower has 64 double-doubles - just 15 shy of the NCAA Division III record - while scoring in double-figures in a Centennial Conference-record 72 consecutive games.

She also excels in the classroom, as she was recently named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America women's basketball third team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Last season, Stockbower was honored as the 2008-09 Centennial Conference Performer of the Year. Stockbower was also named to the 2009 WBCA All-Region team, while compiling four Centennial Conference Player of the Week honors, four ECAC Performer of the Week honors and D3Hoops.com Team of the Week accolades three times in her career.
