This year's main event will take place on Friday September 3rd at 7:00pm when the Garnet face off in the Swat Kick Classic against Baptist Bible. During the game there will be giveaways and entertainment aimed at promoting the sport of soccer. SWARTHMORE, Pa. - After surprising the Centennial Conference with a fourth-place finish and its first ever playoff victory and ECAC playoff appearance last season, expectations are high for the Swarthmore College volleyball team in 2010, as the Garnet return two all-conference performers while setting sights on even bigger goals for the upcoming season.
LANCASTER, Pa. - The reigning three-time ECAC champion Swarthmore College women's soccer team has been selected third in the 2010 Centennial Conference preseason coaches' poll, the conference announced on Thursday afternoon.
The Garnet return seven starters from the 2009 squad, which finished the season with a 16-4-1 record - setting a new program record for victories in a single season.
Johns Hopkins is the coaches' preseason pick to win its sixth straight and ninth overall Centennial women's soccer title in 2010. The Blue Jays were a unanimous choice at the top spot with 100 points and 10 first-place votes (voters not permitted to vote for their own team). Second-place goes to Dickinson with 85 points, while the Garnet followed with 78 points. Muhlenberg captured the fourth spot with 67 points and Haverford (65) and Gettysburg (63) nabbed fifth and sixth-place, respectively.
