Strong Pitching Leads Swarthmore Baseball To Season-Opening Sweep of Presentation from Desert Classic

BOULDER CREEK, Ariz. – Fantastic pitching performances from sophomores Neil Mejia and Kyle Crawford highlighted the Swarthmore College baseball team’s season-opening sweep of Presentation (S.D.) in the first day of the Desert Classic. The Garnet (2-0) won the first game 5-3 - thanks in part to a three-run rally in the top of seventh inning – while dominating the second game 6-0.
Mejia and Crawford were both outstanding on the mound to propel the Garnet to victories; Mejia (1-0) won the first game with a seven-strikeout performance , while Crawford (1-0) followed with  seven strikeouts of his own to pick up his first career shutout. Read the rest of this entry »

Garnet Lax Opens Season With 21-2 Rout of Neumann to Highlight Tri-Co Invitational

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore women's lacrosse team (1-0) opened the 2010 season in dominating fashion, defeating Neumann 21-2 in the second game of the Tri-Co Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Clothier Field.

No-Hitter By Kathryn Riley Highlights Garnet Doubleheader Sweep of Morrisville State

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Opening-season nerves weren’t a problem for senior Kathryn Riley and the Swarthmore College softball team, as Riley dominated the Morrisville State Mustangs, throwing her third career no-hitter to lead the Garnet (2-0) to a 13-0 win over the Mustangs in the first game of a doubleheader. 2010 Season Preview: Softball Looks To Bounce Back

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Following a 2009 season that was derailed by injuries and just plain bad luck, the Swarthmore College softball team has high hopes that it can quickly rebound in 2010 and continue its recent run of success on the softball diamond.

2010 Baseball Preview: Garnet Look To Take The Next Step

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Slowly but surely, the Swarthmore College baseball team is developing into a program to watch out for in the Centennial Conference.

Entering his fourth season at the helm of the Garnet, head coach Stan Exeter has Swat clearly trending in the right direction, as his teams have increased their win total in each season under his tenure while displaying the ability to play with the best teams in the Conference.
