Garnet Fall to Bullets

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- The Gettysburg women's basketball team took an early lead in the first half, defeating Swarthmore 78-58 on Thursday night. Swarthmore guard Laura Popovics '08 (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) scored a season-high 17 points while blocking five shots -- a team-high for the season. Dorsey Drives G’Burg to Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- The Swarthmore men's basketball team gave visiting Gettysburg all it could handle in a mid-week Centennial battle, yet the Bullets exited Tarble Pavilion with a 77-72 win Wednesday evening. Gettysburg improves to 11-2 overall and 6-1 in the Conference while the Garnet drop to 3-10 overall and 0-7 in the Centennial.

Mullarkey Tops Out in Delaware

NEWARK, Del. -- Swarthmore junior Cait Mullarkey led a quartet of Garnet runners in the 1,000-meter event as the Swarthmore indoor track & field team competed at the Delaware Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware Saturday morning.

Mullarkey posted a time of 3:09.19 to win the Division II & III heat.  She was followed across the line by teammates Nyika Corbett ’10 (3:17.27), Lauren DeLuca '10 (3:18.09) and Bess Ritter '09 (3:29.50).

The Garnet men had two entrants in the 1,000 as well:  sophomore Andrew VanBuren was second with a time of 2:53.00 while teammate Jon Shoop '08 finished third in 2:57.46.  Chris Mayer-Bacon ’11 was the other competitor for Swarthmore, racing in the 400 (58.42) and the 800 (2:21.74).

Swarthmore heads to New York City for their next meet, taking part in the NYU Invitational on January 18 at the NYC Armory at 10:00 a.m.

Dickinson Writes Off Garnet

CARLISLE, Pa. -- The Dickinson men's basketball ball team held Swarthmore to 23.1% shooting in the first half on the way to a 69-52 Centennial win Saturday afternoon.
