Pezzola, Montemurro Receive All-Centennial Honors; Chwastyk Named Coach of the Year
November 12th, 2009LANCASTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College volleyball team had two student-athletes named to the All-Centennial team - sophomore Genny Pezzola and freshman Kat Montemurro - while head coach Harleigh Chwastyk was named the Coach of the Year, the conference announced Thursday. Pezzola was named to the first team - marking the first time in program history that a member of the Swarthmore College volleyball team has received first-team honors - while Montemurro earned second-team honors. This is Chwastyk's first Coach of the Year honor in her eight-year coaching career at Swarthmore.
Swarthmore Volleyball Loses Battle to Widener 3-1 in ECAC Tournament
November 11th, 2009CHESTER, Pa. - Swarthmore (19-11, 6-4) lost 3-1 to Widener (22-15, 5-2) in an all out offensive shootout in its opening round ECAC tournament match on Wednesday night at Widener. Sophomore Genny Pezzola led the Garnet with 16 kills and 15 digs. The loss closes out the Garnet's most successful season in program history.

Six Garnet Women Named to All-Centennial Team
November 10th, 2009LANCASTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore women's soccer team had six student-athletes named to the All-Centennial team, as announced Tuesday. Junior Megan Colombo and senior Julia Luongo were named to the first team, while junior Laura Bolger and freshman Alexa Ross were selected to the second team and senior Maggie DeLorme and sophomore Marie Mutryn were honorable mention.
Garnet Soccer Receives At-Large Bid to NCAA Tournament; Will Host First and Second Round Matches
November 9th, 2009SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 7/10 Swarthmore men's soccer team has received an at-large bid to the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship and will host first and second round matches on November 14-15 at Clothier Field.
The first match will feature Hobart (14-3-2) - the champion of the Liberty League - vs. St. Joseph's of Long Island (13-8) - the champion of the Skyline Conference - at 5:00 p.m on Saturday, November 14. November 9th, 2009SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's soccer team and volleyball team have been selected to participate in the 2009 ECAC Division III South Championships, the organization announced on Monday. The women's soccer team (13-4-1) - the two-time ECAC Champions - are the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Centenary (N.J) on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. from Clothier Field Stadium, while the volleyball team (19-10) is a No. 6 seed and will play at No. 3 Widener on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
