Volleyball, Soccer Teams Selected for ECAC Championships

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's soccer team and volleyball team have been selected to participate in the 2009 ECAC Division III South Championships, the organization announced on Monday. The women's soccer team (13-4-1) - the two-time ECAC Champions - are the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Centenary (N.J) on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. from Clothier Field Stadium, while the volleyball team (19-10) is a No. 6 seed and will play at No. 3 Widener on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

The Garnet will be aiming for an unprecedented three-peat in the women's soccer tournament while making its fourth-consecutive postseason appearance. The rest of the bracket is comprised of No. 1 seed Penn State-Altoona, No. 2 seed Stevenson, No.4 Penn State-Behrend, No.5 Grove City, No.7 Moravian and No. 8 La Roche.

The volleyball team is making its first appearance in the ECAC Championships and will look to avenge an earlier season loss to local-rival Widener (3-1).

The semifinals and finals of both the women's soccer and volleyball tournaments will take placeĀ  at the site of the highest remaining seed on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15.
