ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore Stephen Youngblood picked up a No. 1 singles win for the third consecutive match while sophomore Max Bressman and freshmen Malik Mubeen and Seth Udelson each picked up singles and doubles victories as the Garnet (3-6, 2-0) defeated Muhlenberg 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Sophomore Stephen Youngblood won in No. 1 singles and doubles, but it wasn’t enough as the Swarthmore men’s tennis team (2-6, 1-0) dropped a 7-2 decision to No.22 Washington & Lee on Sunday morning from the Faulkner Courts at the College.
Youngblood defeated the Generals No.1 Hayden White 6-4, 6-2 in singles play, while starting the day by teaming up with sophomore Zak Kelm for a 8-2 No. 1 doubles win over the W&L combo of Alex Brooke and Jonathan Gaffney.
WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Swarthmore College men’s tennis team (2-5, 1-0) opened up its second season of Centennial Conference play with a 9-0 sweep of McDaniel on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Malik Mubeen won his first career No.1 singles match, 6-2, 6-4 over McDaniel’s Ben Faber. Mubeen also opened the contest by pairing up with fellow freshman Seth Udelson for a convincing 8-2 doubles win over the Green Terror’s Dan Hovorka/Faber.
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The No. 1 doubles pair of sophomores Stephan Youngblood and Zak Kelm defeated Kalamazoo’s regionally-ranked pair of Jason Brown and Cyrus Jadun of 8-6 to open up match play, but the No. 13 Hornets swept the rest of the match en route to an 8-1 victory over the Garnet (1-5) on Tuesday evening from the Mullan Center.
