Swat Tennis Falls to No. 8 Hopkins for First Centennial Conference Loss
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's tennis team (6-9, 5-1 CC) lost its first Centennial Conference match on Wednesday night as the No. 8 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays (13-4, 6-0 CC) shut down the Garnet 8-1.
Sophomore Max Bressman picked up the Garnet lone point of the day, defeating Hopkins' Jacob Barnaby 6-3, 6-2 in No. 4 singles
Outside of Bressman, it was a tough day for Swat on the Faulkner Courts. Th Blue Jays opened play by sweeping doubles to build a daunting 3-0 lead.
In singles play, sophomore Stephen Youngblood captured the first set against JHU's David Madlow 6-3, but he would eventually succumb 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
From there, Bressman was the only member of the Garnet to pick up a victory, as the Blue Jays captured No. 2, No. 3 No. 5 and No. 6 singles en route to the 8-1 win.
Swat looks to get back on track Saturday when it travels to Dickinson.
