No. 13 Kalamazoo Too Much for Garnet Tennis, 8-1
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 1 doubles pair of sophomores Stephan Youngblood and Zak Kelm defeated Kalamazoo's regionally-ranked pair of Jason Brown and Cyrus Jadun of 8-6 to open up match play, but the No. 13 Hornets swept the rest of the match en route to an 8-1 victory over the Garnet (1-5) on Tuesday evening from the Mullan Center.
In singles play, No. 2 Kelm, No.3 junior Mark Wee and No. 6 freshman James Weiler all took the first set in their matches, only to eventually drop the match. Kelm fell 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 to Jadun, Wee lost 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 to Brown and Wieler fell to James Hanselamn 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Swat also lost a heartbreaker in No.2 doubles, as Wee and sophomore Max Bressman lost to the Kalamazoo pair of Nate Eddy and Joe Unger 9-7.
Swat opens Centennial Conference play on Saturday at McDaniel.
