Saarel, Garnet Cross Country Finish Third at Seven Sisters

RESULTS

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Freshman Emma Saarel finished in third place with a time of 18:51 while junior Hannah Rose earned 10th place with a time of 19:14, as the Swarthmore College women's cross country team finished in third place at the 29th Annual Seven Sisters Race under blustery conditions from Vassar College on Saturday morning.

As a team, the Garnet totaled 56 points, trailing Wellesley (33) and host Vassar (32) for the top spot.

Behind the outstanding performances from Saarel and Rose, several other members of the Garnet stepped up to earn the Top 3 results.

Sophomore Rebecca Hammond and Becky Painter finished 13th and 14th, crossing the line at times of 19:37 and 19:54   respectively.

Right behind with Top 20 finishes were senior Rebecca Woo (20:00/16) and sophomore Stephanie Beebe (20:08 /18). Rounding out the scoring for the Garnet was Katie Gonzalez, who finished in a time of 20:26  for a 22nd place finished.

Swarthmore returns to action in two weeks with the Centennial Conference Championships from Johns Hopkins.
