Shang Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week for Volleyball

LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior Lisa Shang of the Swarthmore College volleyball team has been named the Centennial Conference Performer of the Week for the week ending September 8, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Ferguson, Ranshous Earn Centennial Conference Player of the Week Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Swarthmore College field hockey team took home both the Centennial Conference offensive and defensive player of the week awards, the Conference announced Monday. Senior forward Sophia Ferguson took the offensive honor, while sophomore defender Alison Ranshous claimed the defensive award.

Garnet Volleyball Capture Greyhound Premiere Championship with 3-1 Win Over Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After a tough 3-2 loss to Richard Stockton (3-1) to open championship bracket play Saturday morning, the Swarthmore Volleyball team (3-1) rebounded to take down host Moravian (3-1) in a four set battle, The 3-1 victory earned the Garnet its first Greyhound Classic championship.

Junior Lisa Shang was named the tournament’s most valuable player while junior Genny Pezzola was named to the all-tournament team.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Senior Sophia Ferguson scored three times and recorded an assist while sophomores Taryn Colonnese and Sophia Agathis each added a goal as the Swarthmore Garnet field hockey (1-0) team defeated the Immaculata Mighty Macs ((0-2) 5-0 in their first game of the season on Saturday morning at Clothier Field.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Senior Kirsten Peterson, senior Hannah Purkey, junior Hannah Deming and freshman Lisa Patusky all found the back of the net as the Swarthmore College women’s soccer team (1-0) opened the 2010 season with a convincing 4-0 victory over Baptist Bible in the first game of the 15th Annual Swat Kick Classic from Clothier Field Stadium on Friday evening.

Garnet Women Defend 4 by 800 Title, Ly Takes Third to Lead Garnet Day 2 of CC Championships

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – With the home crowd at Clothier Field Stadium cheering them on, the Swarthmore College women’s 4×800 team rose to the occasion, winning its second consecutive Centennial Conference championship in the event, highlighting the Garnet’s performance on the second day of the championships from the College.

The team – consisting of senior Erin Ronhovde, senior Lauren DeLuca, sophomore Margret Lenfest and freshman Rebecca Hammond- crossed the finish line in a time of 9:20.15

On the men’s side, sophomore Daniel Ly medaled in the men’s long jump with a leap of 21-04.00.
