Ferguson, Ranshous Earn Centennial Conference Player of the Week Honors
LANCASTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College field hockey team took home both the Centennial Conference offensive and defensive player of the week awards, the Conference announced Monday. Senior forward Sophia Ferguson took the offensive honor, while sophomore defender Alison Ranshous claimed the defensive award.
Ferguson (Brookline, Mass. / The Winsor School) scored a hat trick in the season opener against Immaculata. She added an assist in the second half of the game, leading the way to a 5-0 victory. Ferguson's three goals already match her 2009 season total.
Ranshous (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) was a rock in the Garnet defense against Immaculata. Her exceptional play helped limit the Mighty Macs to only five shots during the entire game.
The Garnet return to action on Wednesday with a trip to Richard Stockton.
