SWARTHMORE, Pa. — A warm Ware Pool saw the Garnet women’s swim team open the 2008-09 season with a resounding win over visiting Widener, 101-88, Wednesday night. Much of the heat was generated by vocal fans embroiled in the men’s competition, won in the final swim by the Pride. 108-97.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Swarthmore senior Ashley Gunter was selected All-Centennial for field hockey, in a vote by the Conference had coaches. Gunter is a second-team selection.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — The Garnet cross country teams traveled to central Pennsylvania to race in the 2008 Centennial Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Gettysburg College on a warm November day. The women placed fourth as a team while the men registered a seventh-place finish.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — Swarthmore senior Cait Mullarkey was selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II women’s soccer team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Mullarkey is a first-team selection and will move onto the national ballot.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — The Garnet women’s soccer team hit every part of the goal Wednesday evening, but could not get one in the net, battling to a 0-0 double overtime tie with Haverford. The good news is Swarthmore clinches its third consecutive Centennial Conference playoff berth.
