Garnet Climb Ladder to 11th in Division III
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- The Swarthmore men's soccer team reached the No. 11 spot in the most recent NSCAA/adidas Division III national rankings, released Tuesday morning.
This is the sixth week Swarthmore has been ranked in 2008 with the No. 11 slot being the high-water mark (also listed 11th on Sept. 16). The Garnet completed the regular season with an overall record of 14-2-1 and posted an 8-1 Centennial Conference record. The team is currently on a nine-game win streak and holds the No. 2 ranking in the Middle Atlantic region (behind Messiah).
Last week the Garnet held off Muhlenberg and Haverford with identical 1-0 scores. Both goals were notched by Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week Evan Nesterak (Parker, Colo. / Ponderosa).
This coming weekend, the Garnet will host the Conference Championships at Clothier Field as the top seed. Their first match is scheduled for Saturday, November 8th at 1:30 p.m..—Swarthmore will play the winner of the first round match between No. 4 Dickinson and No. 5 Muhlenberg.
