Genny Pezzola Earns Centennial Conference Performer of the Week Honors For Second Time

LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore Genny Pezzola of the Swarthmore College volleyball team has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the week ending October 6, the conference announced on Tuesday. This is the second time this season that Pezzola has been named Player of the Week; she shared the honor with McDaniel’s Taylor Herrgott for the week ending September 13.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior Morgan Langley scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute – his third of the game- on a bicycle kick in front of the net to give the No. 7 Swarthmore College men’s soccer team (9-1, 3-1) a dramatic 4-3 victory over Gettysburg College on Saturday night from Clothier Field Stadium.

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Senior Joslyn Young added a penalty stroke goal in the final minute of play, but it was not enough of a rally for the Garnet (4-6, 1-3), as they fell to McDaniel 3-2 on Saturday evening. Catie Meador also scored a second-half goal for Swarthmore. McDaniel was powered by a hat trick from Lindsay Riodron.

Colombo Nets Game-Winning Goal as No. 17 Garnet Beat McDaniel 2-1

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior Megan Colombo netted the game-winning goal in the 80th minute as the No. 17 Swarthmore College women’s soccer team went on the road and defeated McDaniel 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Colombo’s late goal came after McDaniel had tied the game with a goal by Jessica Peyton in the 77th minute. But Colombo and Garnet were undaunted with the late tie on the road, scoring just three minutes later when Colombo’s shot hit both a McDaniel defender and goalkeeper before finding the back of the net.

Volleyball Defeats McDaniel 3-1; Move to 3-0 in Conference

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Sophomore Genny Pezzola had 23 kills and 15 digs, freshman Allie Coleman had 30 assists and junior Sarah Lambert had seven service aces as the red-hot Swarthmore College volleyball defeated McDaniel 3-1 (24-26, 25-16, 25-20, 26-24). With the win, the Garnet move to 3-0 in the Centennial Conference and 13-5 overall, with both totals already equaling the most the program has had since 2006.
