Garnet Women Lope Into ECAC Finals

FROSTBURG, Md. — The Swarthmore women’s soccer team will get the opportunity to defend its ECAC South Region title, as three Garnet sophomores scored goals in a 3-0 victory over Westminster at the 2008 ECAC South Region Semifinals on the campus of Frostburg State Saturday afternoon.

LANCASTER, Pa. — The Swarthmore College women’s soccer team had four players selected to the 2008 All-Centennial list, following a vote by the conference head coaches. Garnet seniors Cait Mullarkey and Lauren Walker were named to the first team. Sophomore Megan Colombo and Laura Bolger were named to second team and honorable mention, respectively.

Garnet Women Advance in ECACs

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — The resilient Swarthmore women’s soccer team forged on Wednesday afternoon, advancing past Delaware Valley in the first round of the ECAC South Region Championships Wednesday afternoon. After a scoreless tie through 110 minutes of action, including two overtimes, the Garnet won a penalty-kick shootout, 4-3, to move to the semifinals for the third consecutive year.

Swat Women Hit Postseason Again

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — The Garnet women’s soccer team will play in the post-season for the second straight year, receiving a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Championship. Swarthmore, the sixth seed, will travel north to Delaware Valley College, the third seed, for a 2:00 p.m. match on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Mullarkey Named Academic All-District Again

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — Swarthmore senior Cait Mullarkey was selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II women’s soccer team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Mullarkey is a first-team selection and will move onto the national ballot.
