After winning the ECAC South Region Championship for the second consecutive season, the Swarthmore College women’s soccer team is regrouped, refreshed and ready to defend its title in 2009. With many familiar faces returning in key positions, the Garnet will look to improve upon last season’s 10-4-6 record and make a strong a push towards a Centennial Conference championship.

INDIANAPOLIS – Former Swarthmore College student-athlete Caitlin Mullarkey has been selected as a semifinalist for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. Mullarkey is one of 30 women remaining in the contest, which has been narrowed down from 132 representatives covering all three NCAA divisions and multiple sports.

INDIANAPOLIS – Swarthmore College senior Caitlin Mullarkey ’09 has been selected as the Centennial Conference’s representative for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. Mullarkey is one of 132 women to be nominated for the award, with selections coming from all three NCAA divisions and multiple sports.

CHESTER, Pa. — Graduating Swarthmore senior goalkeeper Lauren Walker will continue her soccer career this spring, having been picked up by the AC Diablos of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) this past week.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — The Swarthmore women’s soccer team received the Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for the fourth consecutive year. Senior Caitlin Mullarkey was named to the NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-East region second team.

PHILADELPHIA — Swarthmore senior Erin Heaney was named the 2008 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic Performer of the Year for volleyball while classmates Cait Mullarkey, Evan Nesterak, Emma Stanley, Natalie Stone and Jason Thrope were also selected Academic All-Stars for their respective sports.

Swarthmore senior Cait Mullarkey is the winner of a Rhodes Scholar for 2009, one of 32 named this past weekend. She is the 17th student-athlete to earn a varsity letter and a Rhodes Scholar while at the College.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. — Swarthmore senior Cait Mullarkey was selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Women’s Soccer Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Tuesday afternoon. Mullarkey is a third-team selection in the College Division and the lone representative from the Centennial Conference.

FROSTBURG, Md. — Swarthmore senior goalkeeper Lauren Walker stopped Frostburg’s first attempt in the penalty-kick shootout and the Garnet converted all five of their attempts to capture the 2008 ECAC South Region Championship Sunday afternoon in snowy western Maryland. Walker was named Tournament MVP as the Garnet win their second consecutive ECAC South Championship.
