Colombo Lifts Garnet Women Past Muhlenberg 2-1

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Even with two of the program’s top offensive career records now in her rear-view mirror, there seems to be little that can stop Megan Colombo these days.

The Garnet senior forward scored two goals in a four-minute span in the first half to lead the streaking Swarthmore College women’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Muhlenberg on Wednesday evening from Clothier Field Stadium.

Colombo Breaks Program Goals, Points Records With Hat Trick as Garnet Defeat Bryn Mawr 5-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Megan Colombo, it’s your time to shine.

The Garnet senior broke the all-time program records for career goals and points with her goal in the 26th minute, while adding two more goals to complete the Garnet’s first hat trick since since 2007 – which was also done by Colombo – as the Swarthmore College women’s soccer team (5-4-2, 4-1) defeated Bryn Mawr 5-0 on Saturday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Look out Madeline Fraser ’94 – Megan Colombo ’11 is on your heels for a pair of program scoring records.

The Garnet senior scored two goals to move into a first-place tie with Fraser for the all-time program lead (26) while freshmen Amber Famiglietti and Aly Passanante also found the back of the net as the Swarthmore College women’s soccer team (4-4-2, 3-1) put on an offensive clinic, defeating McDaniel 4-0 on Saturday night from Clothier Field Stadium.

With her two goals, Colombo also moves just one point shy of Fraser for the all-time program lead in career points (65).

Peterson Ties Assist Mark as Garnet Women Blank Washington 2-0

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior Megan Colombo scored in the 14th minute off an assist from senior Kirsten Peterson while freshman Aly Passanante sealed with a goal in the 82nd minute as the Swarthmore College women’s soccer team blanked homestanding Washington College 2-0 on Wednesday.

With her assist, Peterson is now tied with EB Fortier ’02 for the most career assists in program history (14). Also closing in on a program record thanks to their performance against the Shorewomen is Colombo, whose first-half goal gives her 24 for her career, just two away from the all-time program lead held by Madeline Fraser ’94.

Deming Goal Not Enough as Garnet Women Fall to No. 7 Johns Hopkins 4-1

BALTIMORE – Despite gutsy play and a 37th minute goal from junior forward Hannah Deming, the Swarthmore Garnet womens soccer team (2-4-2, 1-1) fell by a 4-1 score to the Johns Hopkins on Saturday evening at Hopkins’ Homewood Field in Baltimore. The loss was Swarthmore’s first of the season in Centennial Conference play.

Garnet Women Earn 1-1 Tie With No. 23 Eastern in Lightning-Shortened Game

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Freshman Aly Passanante’s electrifying game-tying goal in the 82nd minute set up what looked like it would be a dramatic overtime conclusion to a hotly-contested battle between the Swarthmore College women’s soccer team and No. 23 Eastern – only Mother Nature had different thoughts.

The Garnet (2-3-2) and Eagles (5-1-1) settled for a 1-1 tie on Wednesday night from Clothier Field Stadium, as the game was called due to lightning in the area with :50 seconds remaining in the first overtime period.
