Garnet Women Win White 6K at Paul Short Run

RESULTS

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Led by a top ten performance from freshman Emma Saarel (22:55) and top 20 finishes from junior Hannah Rose (23:19) and senior Rebecca Woo (23:25), the Swarthmore College women's cross country team captured first place in the White 6k race at the Paul Short Run from Lehigh University on Friday afternoon.

As a team, the Garnet amassed 92 points, placing six runners in the top 30 to edge Trinity College (201) and Seton Hill (203).

Saarel took seventh for the Garnet.

Saarel led the way for the Garnet, continuing the stellar start to her Garnet career with a seventh-place finish (22:55). She was followed by Rose and Woo, who earned 18th and 19th place finishes respectively. Rounding out the Garnet's solid team performance were a trio of runners who finished in the top 30, led by sophomore Rebecca Hammond  (21st/23:26), junior Melissa Frick (27th/23:42) and Becky Painter (27th/23:42).

The race title is the Garnet's first since winning the Seven Sisters Championship in 2008.

The Garnet will return to action on October 16th with the 29th annual Seven Sisters Championship from Vassar.
