Garnet Women Finish Sixth at Dickinson Long/Short Race

CARLISLE, Pa. - Junior Hannah Rose finished 16th in the long race with a time of 24:13  while sophomore Rebecca Hammond was the Garnet's top finisher in the short race, as the Swarthmore College women's cross country team opened the season with a sixth place finish in at the Dickinson Long/Short Race on Saturday afternoon.

Rose was the Garnet's top performer in the long race.

Right behind Rose in the long race was freshman Emma Saarel, who made her college debut with an 18th place finish  (24:17). Sophomore Becky Painter was the Garnet's third finisher in the long race, crossing the line in a time of    24:31 (23rd).

In the short race, Hammond was trailed by junior Melissa Frick     (16:00 - 43rd) and junior Stephanie Beebe  (16:12 - 52nd) in her  first competitive collegiate race at Swarthmore.

The Garnet return to action this Tuesday with the Quint Race at Haverford College.
