Hammond Paces Garnet Cross Country Women at Haverford Dual Meet

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Sophomore Rebecca Hammond got the Swarthmore College women's cross country season off to a swift start  at the  Haverford Dual Meet on Saturday morning, finishing the race in a quick 20:27 to lead the Garnet at its season opener.

 Hammond was the highest placing runner for the women's team, recording a 10th place finish.

She was followed by junior Margret Lenfest who placed 19th with a solid 22:15. Freshman Ximena Violante and senior Chelsea Brett finished 20th and 21st respectively with matching times of 22:19. While senior Ali Farnos-Wilker and junior Lizah Masis recorded matching times of 26:36 to finish 24th and 25th overall.

 The women's team will continue its 2010 campaign at Noon, on September 11th in the annual Alumni Meet.
