Garnet Women Fall to Ursinus in Final Seconds, 66-64

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore women’s basketball team (6-8, 3-6) rallied from down 10 points in final four minutes of play, but Ursinus guard Alli Rosati sank two foul shots with 3.2 seconds remaining in regulation to break a 64-64 tie and the Garnet turned the ball over on its final possession, as the Bears hung on to defeat the Garnet 66-64 in Centennial Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Bodur Hits Game-Winner as Red-Hot Garnet Women Defeat Dickinson 72-70

CARLISLE, Pa. – Junior Ceylan Bodur hit the game-winning shot with four seconds remaining as the red-hot Swarthmore College women’s basketball team held off a furious Dickinson rally in final minutes to hang on for a 72-70 victory on Tuesday night from Carlisle. Swarthmore (6-7, 3-5) has now won four of its last five games since the start of the new year, including back-to-back Centennial Conference games for the first time this season.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Down 10 points late in the second half, the Swarthmore College women’s basketball team (4-7, 1-5) stormed all the way back and had a chance to tie homestanding Gettysburg on its final possession, but three-point attempts from freshman Eliza Polli and junior Ceylan Bodur rimmed out as time expired, and the undefeated Bullets (11-0, 6-0) hung on to defeat the Garnet 51-48 on Wednesday evening.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Junior Kathryn Stockbower scored 23 points and pulled down a season-high 20 rebounds as the Swarthmore College women’s basketball team (4-6, 1-4) defeated host Catholic 65-57 to claim first place in the Catholic University/Fairfield Inn Women’s Basketball Classic on Monday afternoon.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Junior Kathryn Stockbower led all scorers with 26 points, while freshman Madeline Ross (11 points) and junior Ceylan Bodur (10 points) also scored in double figures as the Swarthmore College women’s basketball team (3-6, 1-3) blasted York College (N.Y.) 79-39 on Sunday evening in the opening round of the Catholic University Tournament from the DuFour Center.

With the victory, Swarthmore moves on to the championship game to face host Catholic tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.

Widener Rallies To Defeat Garnet Women 55-48 in 320 Battle

CHESTER, Pa. – Swarthmore’s one-two punch of junior Kathryn Stockbower and junior Ceylan Bodur each scored 11 points, but on a blistery cold evening in Chester, the Garnet offense went ice cold at the wrong time, scoring just nine points in the game’s final 12 minutes to allow Widener to rally from a double-digit deficit in the second half to come back for the 55-48 victory on Thursday evening.
