SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Freshman Eliza Polli and junior Ceylan Bodur each scored 14 points, while junior Kathryn Stockbower added 12 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Swarthmore College women's basketball team (5-7, 2-5) to a 55-43 win over Franklin & Marshall (7-5, 3-4) on Saturday afternoon from Tarble Pavilion.

Along with the offensive leaders, the Garnet defense arguably put on its best performance of the season, holding the Diplomats to 30.4 percent shooting and causing 14 turnovers.

The Diplomats held a slim 21-20 led heading into the second half, but the Garnet would fire back quickly five minutes in the second half, taking control of the game with  a dominating 19-2 run over a 10-minute span.  The run was sparked by a three of  Polli's game-high four three-pointer, with her final three building the lead to 49-32 with 5:04 left in the game.

From that point on, the Garnet defense held tight, never allowing the Diplomats to get any closer than 10 points, holding on for the 55-43 win.

Despite facing constant double-teams, Stockbower recorded the 52nd double-double of her career.

Franklin & Marshall's Beth Holt led the Diplomats' offense with 16 points.

Senior Pam Costello finished with six points and game-high five assists.The 14 points for Polli is her career high.

Swarthmore finished with 20-12 edge in points in the paint and 44-33 advantage in rebounds.

The Garnet will look for its fourth win in five games as the team travels to Dickinson College on Tuesday January 12th.  Play is slated to begin at 6 PM.
