Swimmer Travis Pollen Breaks American Paralympic Record in 100 Freestyle

LANCASTER, Pa. – Swarthmore College men’s swimmer Travis Pollen ’12 broke the paralympic S9 American record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.80 while competing for the Garnet at the Centennial Conference Championships on Sunday evening from Franklin & Marshall College.

Garnet Men Keep Pace at Day Two of Centennial Championships; Miller Takes Home Silver

LANCASTER, Pa. – It’s Day Two of the Centennial Conference championships, and the Swarthmore College men’s swimming teams is still within striking distance of a team championship.

Thanks in part to the strong swimming of junior Sterling Satterfield (2 bronze), sophomore Sam Bullard-Sisken (2 bronze) and freshman Tyler Hanson (1 silver) on Saturday evening from Franklin & Marshall, the men’s team finds itself in second place with 504 points, closely trailing F&M’s 570 points.

On the women’s side, it was senior Anne Miller stealing the spotlight once again, taking second place in the 100-yard butterfly (57.40) in a personal best and NCAA B-cut time.

Garnet Dive Into Day One of Centennial Championships; Benveniste Takes Third in 500 Freestyle

LANCASTER, Pa. – A strong start for Swarthmore College men’s swim team and the performance of freshman Jacob Benveniste highlighted the first day of the Centennial Conference Championships for the Garnet swim teams on Friday evening from Franklin & Marshall.

The Garnet men find themselves in second place with 207 points – trailing only the first place Diplomats (258) after the first day of competition. Benveniste was the lone Garnet swimmer to capture a top three finish, clocking in at 4:44.56 in the 500-yard freestyle.

All-American Anne Miller Earns NCAA Time To Highlight Garnet Swim Split at Washington

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior All-American Anne Miller stole the show from snowy Washington College, breaking the Casey Swim Center record and earning an NCAA B-cut time in the 200 butterfly (2:07.84), as the Swarthmore College swim teams earned a split against Centennial rival Washington, with the men earning a 121-77 victory and the Swat women (4-6, 2-5) falling to the Shorewomen 120-84 on Tuesday evening.

Basketball Doubleheader Versus Johns Hopkins Postponed for Third Time

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – For a third time, winter weather has postponed Swarthmore’s scheduled men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader versus Johns Hopkins. Tonight’s scheduled games have been moved yet again – this time to Monday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. from Tarble Pavilion.

Streaking Swat Men Topple Dickinson 114-91; Swat Women Fall to Red Devils 110-95

CARLISLE, Pa. – It’s a split on Super Sunday for the Swathmore men’s and women’s swimming teams, as the Garnet men (5-3, 4-1) earned their third consecutive victory, defeating Dickinson 114-91 for a crucial Centennial Conference win just 12 days before the Conference championship, while the women (4-5, 2-4) – led by another 3-for-3 performance from senior All-American Anne Miller (200 freestyle (2:01.32), 500 freestyle (5:24.4) and 1,000 freestyle (11:17.82) – were narrowly edged by the homestanding Red Devils 110-95.

Old Man Winter Hits Swarthmore Athletics; Basketball, Swimming, Track All Postponed to Sunday

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The major snow storm that is expected to hit the Mid-Atlantic region on Saturday and has forced the postponement of several Swarthmore College athletic events. Both of the home men’s and women’s basketball games against Johns Hopkins have been postponed until Sunday, February 7th, at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The men’s and women’s swimming meet at Dickinson (2:00 p.m.) and the men’s and women’s track meet at Haverford (11:00 a.m.) have also been postponed until Sunday.

Garnet Split with Bullets on Senior Day

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College swim teams earned a split on Senior Day from Ware Pool, as the men’s swim team (4-3, 3-1 CC) won a hard-fought battle over Conference rival Gettysburg (4-3, 3-1 CC) 117-88, but the Garnet women (4-4, 2-3 CC) fell to the Bullets (7-1, 5-0 CC) 111-94 on Saturday afternoon.

Swarthmore Swim Teams Down Cabrini

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Early domination by both the men’s and women’s swimming teams powered Swarthmore past the visiting Cabrini Cavaliers on Saturday afternoon from Ware Pool. The Garnet women (3-3, 1-2 CC) won 148-88 while the Garnet men (3-3, 2-1 CC) won 74-55.
