Cross Country Women Ranked No. 8 in Mideast Region

NEW ORLEANS – After the first two competitions of the 2010 season, the Swarthmore College women’s cross country team find itself with an early-season regional ranking , as the team is ranked No. 8 in the Mideast Region according to the the Division III USTFCCA rankings, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Garnet Volleyball Gets Back on Track With 3-0 Win Over Washington

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior captain Sarah Lambert dished out 20 assists while junior Hillary Santana and sophomore Allie Coleman finished with 15 and 10 digs respectively as the Swarthmore College volleyball team (11-4, 1-1) got back on the winning track, defeating Washington College 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-8) on Wednesday evening.

The victory is the Garnet’s first Centennial Conference win of the 2010 season.

Peterson Ties Assist Mark as Garnet Women Blank Washington 2-0

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior Megan Colombo scored in the 14th minute off an assist from senior Kirsten Peterson while freshman Aly Passanante sealed with a goal in the 82nd minute as the Swarthmore College women’s soccer team blanked homestanding Washington College 2-0 on Wednesday.

With her assist, Peterson is now tied with EB Fortier ’02 for the most career assists in program history (14). Also closing in on a program record thanks to their performance against the Shorewomen is Colombo, whose first-half goal gives her 24 for her career, just two away from the all-time program lead held by Madeline Fraser ’94.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Swarthmore College men’s soccer team (8-0, 2-0) continues to climb to the national polls, as the Garnet rose to No. 2 in the D3Soccer.com poll and to No.3 in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings, the organizations announced on Tuesday.

Langley Named Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for Second Time

LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior Morgan Langley of the No. 4/5 Swarthmore College men’s soccer team has been named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 25, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

The award marks the second time this season that Langley has been named the offensive player of the week, the first coming in the week ending September 5.

Samuelson Earns Two Titles to Lead Garnet Tennis at ITA Regionals

Late Goals Give No. 4/5 Garnet Men 3-1 Victory Over Dickinson

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Another game, another milestone for senior Morgan Langley – and another important early-season Centennial Conference victory for the red-hot Swarthmore College men’s soccer team (8-0, 2-0).

Junior David Sterngold scored the game-winning goal thanks to another record-breaking assist from Langley in the 87th minute, while Langley added the final nail in the coffin with a breakaway goal two minutes later as the No. 4/5 Garnet (8-0, 2-0) defeated the Red Devils 3-1 on Saturday evening in front of a large and boisterous crowd at Clothier Field Stadium.

With his ninth assist of the season, Langley – the NCAA Division III leader in assists and assist-per-game – breaks the all-time Swarthmore single-season record just eight games into the 2010 season.
