SWARTHMORE, Pa. – After receiving praise and accolades all week after the upset of then-No. 2 Stevens Tech, the No. 9 Swarthmore men’s soccer team certainly lived up to its new-found hype, overwhelming local-rival Widener 4-0 from Clothier Field Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Fabian Castro netted two goals while junior Morgan Langley and sophomore David Sterngold also found the back of the net for the streaking Garnet (5-0).

Not to be outdone, the women’s team – coming off thrilling victories over Eastern (2-1) and Elizabethtown (1-0 OT) – moved up eight spots to No. 15, the highest ranking in program history. Regionally, both the men and women are ranked No. 2 in the Mid-Atlantic region – with each trailing No. 1 Messiah respectively.
