BOX SCORE

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - TCNJ's Casey Caruso scored in the 26th minute and Alexa Rozzi put the game away in the 87th as the No. 8 Lions defeated No. 15 Swarthmore 2-0 from Clothier Field Stadium on a chilly Wednesday night. The loss is the Garnet's (5-1) first of the 2009 season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Marie Mutryn recorded a career-high 12 saves for the Garnet.

A year after the Garnet knocked off then-No.1 TCNJ - the first team in Centennial Conference history to do so - the Lions would have their revenge at Clothier Field. TCNJ (6-0) controlled possession and tempo for much of the game, out-shooting Swarthmore 26-2 and 16-2 in shots on goal.

Despite the stats heavily favoring the Lions, the outcome was still up for grabs until the final minutes of play, in part thanks to the play of Mutryn in goal and the Swat backline making two team saves on open goals.

Up 1-0, the Lions sealed the game on a corner kick in the 87th minute. TCNJ's Rozzi one-timed a corner pass from  Nikki Migliori into the upper left corner to extend the lead to 2-0.

The No. 15  Garnet return to action on Saturday, September 19, when it kicks off Centennial Conference play with a home match against Dickinson. Play is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
