Blue Jays Fly Past Field Hockey 3-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Junior goalie Katie Ashmore made nine saves while facing pressure all game long, but three second-half goals by Elizabethtown proved to be the difference as the Blue Jays earned a 3-0 victory over the Garnet (2-3, 1-0) on Tuesday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium.

Elizabethtown'sĀ  Liz DeMatteis netted two goals in a three-minute span in the second half to help put a close game out of reach for the Garnet. DeMatteis found hereself in front of the net all game long, registering six shots on goal for the game.

A scoreless, evenly-played game heading into the second half, Elizabethtown's Brenna Noon gave the Blue Jays the 1-0 lead in the 49th minuteĀ  when her diving shot from the left wing found the back of the cage.

For the Garnet, freshman Sophia Agathis recorded five shots with two on goal.

The Blue Jays maintained a 13-6 advantage in shots on goal.
