Garnet Soccer Teams Soar To New Heights in National Rankings
KANSAS CITY, MO. - Both the Swarthmore men's (4-0) and women's (5-0) soccer teams are still unbeaten - and both are still climbing the national rankings.
Fresh off its 1-0 upset of previously No. 2 Stevens, the Garnet men climbed two spots in the national poll to No. 9. Not to be outdone, the women's team - coming off thrilling victories over Eastern (2-1) and Elizabethtown (1-0 OT) - moved up eight spots to No. 15, the highest ranking in program history. Regionally, both the men and women are ranked No. 2 in the Mid-Atlantic region - with each trailing No. 1 Messiah respectively.
The Garnet teams also made an impact in the season-opening D3Soccer.com Poll. The men are ranked No. 4 in the current poll, with the Garnet women coming in at No. 19.
Both teams return to action at Clothier Field Stadium on Wednesday, with the men hosting local-rival Widener at 5:00 p.m. and the women hosting No. 8 College of New Jersey at 7:30 p.m.
