SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week Marie Mutryn made nine saves, but the Blue Jays Ava Scheininger scored in the 37th minute of the first half as the Garnet (7-2, 1-1) fell to conference-rival No. 14 Johns Hopkins 1-0 on Saturday afternoon from Clothier Field.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Freshman Sophia Agathis scored with :12 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime, but it was not enough as Johns Hopkins’ Brittany Bland scored in the fifth minute of overtime, leading the No. 8 Blue Jays past the Swarthmore field hockey team 2-1 (OT) on Saturday afternoon from Clothier Field.

Senior captain goalkeeper Gina Grubb was outstanding in cage for the Garnet, recording 15 saves to put the Garnet in position for what would have been one of the biggest wins in program history.

Mutryn Named ECAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The accolades keep coming for sophomore goalkeepr Marie Mutryn. The reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week was also recently named the ECAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the South Region, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Mills Scores in OT as No. 18/20 Garnet Defeat Widener 1-0

Junior Elizabeth Mills scored the game-winning goal from 10-yards out in the second minute of overtime as the No. 18/20 Swarthmore women’s soccer team (7-1) defeated previously unbeaten Widener (7-1-1) on Thursday evening.

Despite getting eight shots on goal in regulation and controlling the tempo throughout, the Garnet just couldn’t catch a offensive break against the Pride’s defense. That changed with the start of overtime. Mills took a pass on the left wing from fellow junior Kirsten Peterson and beat Widener keeper Vanessa Hejnas to win the game for Swat.

Swarthmore Rolls to 3-0 Victory in Conference Opener

BRYN MAWR, Pa – Swarthmore (9-4) traveled to Bryn Mawr College on Wednesday night where it would open up its conference schedule. The Garnet made the visit quick as sophomore OH Genny Pezzola led the team to a 3-0 victory.

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Junior Morgan Langley and sophomore Henry Ainley each scored two goals and senior Omari Faakye scored the first goal of his career as the No. 3/9 Swarthmore men’s soccer team (7-0, 1-0) continued its recent string of dominant performances, defeating Immaculata 5-0 on Wednesday evening.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior Sophia Ferguson notched a goal and assist while junior Sara McCabe and freshman Katie Teleky each found the back of the cage as the Swarthmore College field hockey team held off a late Neumann rally and hung on for the 3-2 victory on Wednesday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium.
