CALIFORNIA – Days two and three of the Garnet volleyball fall break trip to California would be yet another great example of west coast hospitality, volleyball and scenery. Between junior Genny Pezzola’s parents’ meals and tours of San Francisco and an amazing Swarthmore fan turnout at the tournament its easy to say that Swarthmore felt at home in California in the past two days.

No. 2 Garnet Men, Franklin & Marshall Play to 0-0 Draw

LANCASTER, Pa. – There’s a reason the Centennial Conference is widely considered the nation’s best conference for Division III men’s soccer.

Despite controlling possession throughout and owning a 15-7 advantage in shots and 7-3 edge in shots on goal , the No. 2 Swarthmore College men’s soccer team could not break down a stingy Diplomat defense, as the Garnet was forced to settle for a 0-0 draw with Franklin & Marshall (6-3-3, 2-1-3) on a windy Saturday afternoon in Lancaster.

Saarel, Garnet Cross Country Finish Third at Seven Sisters

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Freshman Emma Saarel finished in third place with a time of 18:51 while junior Hannah Rose earned 10th place with a time of 19:14, as the Swarthmore College women’s cross country team finished in third place at the 29th Annual Seven Sisters Race under blustery conditions from Vassar College on Saturday morning.

Garnet Rally Falls Short as McDaniel Defeats Field Hockey 4-2

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Senior Sophia Ferguson and sophomore Catie Meador both scored second-half goals for the Swarthmore College field hockey team (6-8, 3-3), but it wasn’t enough to a erase a four-goal first half deficit to visiting McDaniel, as the Garnet lost 4-2 on Saturday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium.

Garnet Volleyball Drops Two on Day One of Cal Lutheran Fall Classic

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Sophomore Kat Montemurro’s explosive attack led the Garnet offense but wasn’t enough as the Swarthmore College volleyball team (15-6, 5-1 CC) would drop its first two games on Friday in the California Lutheran Fall Classic with a heartbreaking five set loss to Chapman University and a three set loss to Occidental College.

Montemurro racked up 24 kills and two service aces on the day..

Colombo Lifts Garnet Women Past Muhlenberg 2-1

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Even with two of the program’s top offensive career records now in her rear-view mirror, there seems to be little that can stop Megan Colombo these days.

The Garnet senior forward scored two goals in a four-minute span in the first half to lead the streaking Swarthmore College women’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Muhlenberg on Wednesday evening from Clothier Field Stadium.

Teleky, Jones Lead Field Hockey Past Muhlenberg 3-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Sophomore forward Katie Teleky scored two goals in the first half while Nia Jones added a late insurance goal as the Swarthmore College field hockey team (6-7, 3-2) rolled over Muhlenberg (1-10, 1-4) by a 3-0 score on Wednesday afternoon from Clothier Field.

For the Garnet, who have won three of four games, the sixth win of the season is the most by any field hockey squad since head coach Lauren Fuchs took over in 2008. The Garnet’s 3-2 Centennial Conference record marks the first time the team has been above .500 in conference play five or more conference games into the season since 2006, and also equals the most conference victories by any Swarthmore squad since 2007.
