Swarthmore Defeats Bryn Mawr 86-47

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Junior Kathryn Stockbower recorded her 58th double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, sophomore Genny Pezzola (17 points) and freshman Madeline Ross (16 points) each scored career-highs to lead the Swarthmore College women's basketball team (8-10, 5-8 CC) to an 86-47 victory against Bryn Mawr (2-15, 0-13 CC) at Haverford's Gooding Arena on Wednesday evening.

Balanced scoring was the key, as 12 of Swat's 13 players scored in the victory, which snaps a two-game losing skid.

The Garnet built a 38-19 halftime lead and never looked back - thanks in part to 47 percent shooting and a season-high 10 three-pointers. Pezzola led the way with four three-pointers, while sophomore Nicole Rizzo scored a season-high nine points on three-three pointers and Christiana Duron scored seven points on two treys.

The Garnet finished with commanding advantages in bench points (59-3), points off turnovers (35-7) and second-chance points (29-3).

Freshman Katie Teleky scored a career-high five points, while senior Lisa Schumacher added a game-high three steals.

Lindsey Darvin led the Owls with a game-high 18 points, while Emilie Naccarato (14) and Caroline Heffernan (10) also scored in double-figures.

The win isĀ  Swarthmore's fifth straight in the series with long-time rival Bryn Mawr, which the Garnet now leads 63-17.

Pezzola's 17 points marked her fourth straight double-digit game.

The Garnet will look to keep its playoff hopes alive this weekend with a trip to Franklin & Marshall. Action is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
