Swarthmore Outlasts Bryn Mawr 99-95
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore women's swim team (4-3, 2-2 CC) took seven of 11 events to defeat the Bryn Mawr Owls (2-5, 0-5 CC) 99-95 on Wednesday evening in Ware Pool.
The Garnet sealed the win in dominating fashion in the 100-yard butterfly, only the sixth event, claiming the top three times in the event. Senior Anne Miller led the charge with a time of 1:01.11. Freshman Hannah Gotwals finished shortly after in 1:03.11 edging out Sophomore Naomi Glassman with a time of 1:03.18.
Miller led the Garnet, going three-for-three on the night. Miller swam perfectly in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.99. In the 500-yard freestyle, Miller clocked in seven seconds ahead of the competition with a time of 5:27.70.
Swarthmore flew out of the gates with a one-two finish in the 200-yard medley. Juniors Melinda Neal and Stephanie Su and seniors Casey Osborn and Claire Sheldon claimed the 11 points with a time of 1:59.22.
Senior Sarah Bedolfe (11:50.16) and sophomore Jacqueline Scala (11:52.09) also finished with a one-two finish in the 1000-yard freestyle for Swarthmore.
Swarthmore will try to keep the momentum going for three straight since the break on Saturday January 30th when Conference rival Gettysburg visits Ware Pool. Action starts at 2 PM.
