Garnet Cruise to 6-1 Victory Over Baptist Bible at Swat Kick Classic

SWARTHMORE, Pa, – Senior Taylor Rhodes scored two goals, while senior Julia Luongo, junior Megan Colombo, junior Kirsten Peterson, and freshman Isabelle Newlin each contributed a goal as the Swarthmore women’s soccer team (2-0) completely overwhelmed visiting Bible Baptist 6-1 on Saturday afternoon from Clothier Field.

The victory continues the Garnet’s recent domination of the field in the Swat Kick Class. The 6-1 win against Baptist Bible ties the largest margin of victory for the Garnet in the Swat Kick Classic and extends the Garnet’s tournament winning streak to seven games, dating back to 2005.

Garnet Capture Second Place at Greyhound Premier

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Swarthmore volleyball took second place at Greyhound Premier after splitting a pair of games on Saturday afternoon, toppling host Moravian 3-1 but falling to conference-rival Franklin & Marshall 3-0. Sophomore Genny Pezzola and freshman Kathryn Montemurro were honored for their outstanding play all weekend with selections to the All-Tournament Team.

Pride Tops Field Hockey 4-1 in Inaugural 320 Challenge Contest

Freshman Catie Meador scored the first goal of her career in the second minute of play, but visiting Widener responded with three second-half goals, as the Garnet fell to the Pride 4-1 on Saturday afternoon from Clothier Field. Meador’s goal from the left of the circle – assisted by junior Sara McCabe – put the Garnet on top 1-0 just 70 seconds into the game. But the Garnet’s offensive attack couldn’t get much going the rest of the contest, managing only three more shots on goal.

Volleyball Sweeps First Day of Competition at Greyhound Premier

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Swarthmore volleyball dominated the competition in day one of the Greyhound Premier, as the Garnet posted its first victory of the season by topping Cabrini College Cavaliers 3-1, followed by a shutout victory over the Wesley College Wolverines on Friday evening.

Field Hockey Opens Season With 5-2 Victory Over Richard Stockton

Junior Krista Scheirer scored two goals as the Swarthmore field hockey team opened its season with a 5-2 victory over Richard Stockton Thursday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium. Junior Devon Novotnak added a goal and two assists, junior captain Sarah Ferguson scored while adding an assist, and senior Hoa Pham also found the back of the cage for the Garnet.
