Garnet Lax Opens Season With 21-2 Rout of Neumann to Highlight Tri-Co Invitational

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore women’s lacrosse team (1-0) opened the 2010 season in dominating fashion, defeating Neumann 21-2 in the second game of the Tri-Co Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Clothier Field.

Sophomore Annalise Mowry (5) and junior Amy Vachal (4) were the stars for the Garnet, combining for 10 of the Swarthmore’s 21 goals.

No-Hitter By Kathryn Riley Highlights Garnet Doubleheader Sweep of Morrisville State

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Opening-season nerves weren’t a problem for senior Kathryn Riley and the Swarthmore College softball team, as Riley dominated the Morrisville State Mustangs, throwing her second career no-hitter to lead the Garnet (2-0) to a 13-0 win over the Mustangs in the first game of a doubleheader. Swat finished the sweep in the second game with a 12-10 win.

Garnet Lax Doubled-Up By Widener, 12-6

CHESTER, Pa. – Senior Tyler Bradshaw scored three goals on four shots while adding an assist, but it wasn’t enough to erase a seven-goal first period by homestanding Widener, as the Pride defeated the Swarthmore College men’s lacrosse team 12-6 on Saturday afternoon from Leslie Quick Jr. Stadium.

No. 14 N.C. Wesleyan Too Much for Swat Tennis in 9-0 Loss

SALISBURY, Md. – The Swarthmore men’s tennis team (2-1) had a rough showing in its first match of Spring Break, getting blanked No. 14 North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops 9-0 on Saturday afternoon from Maryland.

2010 Season Preview: Softball Looks To Bounce Back

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Following a 2009 season that was derailed by injuries and just plain bad luck, the Swarthmore College softball team has high hopes that it can quickly rebound in 2010 and continue its recent run of success on the softball diamond.

Head coach Renee Clarke, who enters her seventh season with the Garnet, will be looking to improve the upon last year’s 5-11 record in the Centennial Conference and maintains optimism that this squad has what it takes to return to the postseason.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Slowly but surely, the Swarthmore College baseball team is developing into a program to watch out for in the Centennial Conference.Entering his fourth season at the helm of the Garnet, head coach Stan Exeter has Swat clearly trending in the right direction, as his teams have increased their win total in each season under his tenure while displaying the ability to play with the best teams in the Conference. Still, the program’s next step will be the most difficult: developing into a consistent winner in the Centennial.

Rachel Wallwork Named Centennial Conference Tennis Performer of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior Rachel Wallwork of the Swarthmore College women’s tennis team has been named the Centennial Conference Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. Wallwork – the two-time Centennial Conference Performer of the Year – has been dominant to start the 2010 spring season. She is 2-0 in singles matches as well as 2-0 in her doubles competition, leading the Garnet to victories over NYU (5-4) and Oberlin (8-1).
