Wall, Knapp Lead Garnet Golf at Philly U Fall Classic

PHILADELPHIA – Junior Paul Weston and freshman Kyle Knapp both shot 81 to tie for 13th place in a field of 60 to lead the Swarthmore golf team at the Philly U Golf Classic on Tuesday from the ACE Club.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – One game after being held without a point for just the second time this season, it didn’t take senior forward Morgan Langley too long to get back on track.

Langley scored his team-leading eighth goal of the year just five minutes into the game while adding two assists to his NCAA-leading total as the No. 2 Swarthmore College men’s soccer team (11-0-1) dominated the Moravian Greyhounds, 4-0, on Tuesday night from Clothier Field in a non-conference battle.

Garnet Volleyball Takes Down Mules 3-0 for Fifth-Straight Victory

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Freshman Maggie Duszyk led the attack with 12 kills while junior Hillary Santana led the defense with 19 digs as the Swarthmore College volleyball team (15-4, 5-1) routed Muhlenberg 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-21) from Tarble Pavilion on Tuesday evening.

With the victory, the Garnet has now won five consecutive Centennial Conference matches without dropping a single game.

Garnet Men Maintain No. 2 National Ranking

Kansas City, Kan. – Fresh off a 3-0 victory over Ursinus, the Swarthmore men’s soccer team maintained its No. 2 national ranking in the D3Soccer.com and NSCAA/HendricksCars.com polls, the organizations announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The Garnet is ranked No. 2 for the second consecutive week, trailing Christopher Newport for the top spot in both polls. Swarthmore did pick up one additional first-place vote in the D3Soccer.com national poll.

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Despite continued production from the ever-more-relevant freshman class, the Swarthmore Garnet field hockey team (5-7, 2-2) could not sufficiently capitalize on ample scoring chances as it fell 4-2 to the Gwynedd-Mercy Griffins (8-5) on Sunday afternoon .

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior captain Micah Rose’s fifth goal of the season in the 17th minute of the goal gave the No. 2 Swarthmore College men’s soccer team (10-0-1, 4-0-1 CC) an early lead over Ursinus (1-9, 0-5 CC) but two goals late in the second half solidified the dominant 3-0 Swat victory on Saturday night on Clothier Field.

King Paces Garnet Cross Country at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Sophomore Bill King earned a Top 10 finish with a time of 27:19.57to lead the Swarthmore College men’s cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the DeSales Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

As a team, the Garnet finished fifth among Division III competition with 159 points in the squads final prep race before the Centennial Conference Championships (Oct. 31 from Johns Hopkins).

CARLISLE, Pa. – Junior Genny Pezzola had 12 kills, seven digs and two service aces and a trio of Garnet freshmen – Danielle Sullivan (7), Brone Lobichusky (6), and Maggie Duszyk (6) – combined for 19 kills as the streaking Swarthmore volleyball team (14-4, 4-1) went on the road and swept Dickinson 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-19) on Saturday afternoon.

After dropping its Centennial Conference opener at Johns Hopkins, the Garnet has responded in a big way, winning its next four Centennial Conference matches without losing a single game.

Second-Half Goals Propel Garnet Field Hockey Past Dickinson 2-1

CARLISLE, Pa. – A pair of second-half goals from a pair of freshmen – Aarti Rao and Nia Jones – helped the Swarthmore College field hockey team (5-6, 2-2) rally past Dickinson 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Biddle Field on Dickinson’s campus.

With the victory, the Garnet ties its regular season win total from the past two years and eclipses its Centennial Conference win total from both the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
