Swat Tennis Clinches Playoff Berth with Win Over Haverford, 8-1

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (10-4, 8-1 CC) clinched a Centennial Conference playoff berth with a resounding 8-1 rout of Haverford College (8-6, 7-2 CC) on Wednesday evening in the Mullan Center.

Wallwork has won 24 consecutive Centennial Conference matches.

The Garnet were unstoppable in singles play as senior Rachel Wallwork would lead the way with a decisive 6-3, 6-2 No. 1 singles win over the Fords' Katie Wettick for her 24th consecutive Centennial Conference singles victory.

Sophomore Rosie Dubrin earned Swat's second singles victory of the night with a big 6-2, 6-1 over Jaclyn Porter.

After a tough, four-overtime point first set, freshman Emily Rosenblum would regroup and defeat Haverford's No. 3 Helen Fisun 7-6 and 6-3 to keep the streak alive.

Freshmen Kelsey Johnson and Stephanie Chia and junior Alexis Hickman would each roll to victories in their singles match-ups.

Wallwork and Rosenblum would also take care of business in doubles with an 8-4 rout of Wettick and Porter while Swarthmore would go 2-1 overall in doubles action.

The return to the Centennial Conference playoffs is Swat's first since 2008.

The Garnet returns to action on Saturday April 24 at Franklin & Marshall.  Play is slated to begin at 1 PM.
