Bulldogs Shut Down Garnet, 16-4

BOX SCORE

CENTER VALLEY,  Pa. - The DeSales Bulldogs (19-12) hit their way past the Swarthmore College baseball team (18-4) on Tuesday afternoon as the Garnet would fall 16-4 in the non-conference match-up at Butz Field.

Schneiderman knocked in two runs in the top of the ninth inning.

Swarthmore would try to put together a late rally in the top of the ninth inning sparked by a pinch-hit double by sophomore Miles Santo followed by a single from sophomore Spencer Ross, advancing pinch-runner junior Andy Allen to third.  After DeSales would walk the bases loaded, junior Ben Schneiderman would hit a two-RBI single to center field scoring Allen and pinch-runner, sophomore Ignacio Rodriguez.

Unfortunately, it was too little to late as the Swat rally would end with a fielders choice to close out the game.

Ross went three-for-four including a double but the Garnet were unable to get anything going, scoring runs in only three innings of play while the Bulldogs would plate runners in all but two innings.

DeSales would put up 11 runs in the first three innings of play to put the game out of reach early for Swarthmore.

Each player in the DeSales starting line-up would record at least two hits in the game as Swat would need to go to eight pitchers in the game.

The Swarthmore baseball team will look to rebound on Saturday April 24, returning to Centennial Conference play a double-header at Dickinson College.  Play is slated to begin at 12:30 PM.
